Simple Re-Upholstery
Change a Chair’s Look: Quick & Easy
by Ariel Redden

Dining room chairs looking a little worn? Or are you just tired of looking at them? By changing the seat fabric, you can give new life to your old dining room chairs or any side chair that needs a little face-lift.

First, you need to choose your fabric. When picking fabric you don’t want to choose anything that feels flimsy or stretchy. Keep in mind these seats will get a lot of use. You will need a fabric that can hold up to wear.

Next, gather your tools. You will need scissors, a staple gun, and a screwdriver. Flip your chair upside down and locate the screws holding the seat in place. Remove these screws to remove the seat of the chair.

Once you are sure you have a large enough piece of fabric to cover your seat, pull each side of the fabric over the bottom of the seat. Use the staple gun to put one staple in each side.
Make sure the fabric is smooth
and not too loose or stretched out.

Finish stapling all around the fabric about every two inches. When you get to the corners, trim away excess fabric so that the staple will be able to go through the fabric. Once you are finished stapling the fabric in place, trim away any excess fabric and screw the seat back onto the chair.

Repeat this process for each chair and you have a brand new look for your dining room chairs.
