Insurance Photos
Keeping Possessions Up-to-Date
by Brian P. Bower

Making a photographic record of your property and possessions on a regular basis is a simple activity to help ensure your piece of mind.
In the event of a loss such as theft, floods, fires or catastrophic weather conditions, these photos could prove to be an invaluable asset when making a report to the police and your insurance company.
By using a digital camera, each image records not only the subject, but also the date and time when the photo was taken. Each time you finish your photo recording session, burn several copies of your photos onto a CD or DVD and put the disks into a safe place, along with the actual receipts for the property.

Take wide angle photos of the outside of your home showing all four corner views, ornamental landscaping, trees, structures, fences, lighting fixtures etc.

Photograph your vehicles showing all four sides to be able to prove damage was non existent on that date.

Inside your home, photograph your furniture and possessions of each room including the serial numbers if possible.
Hopefully, these photos will never be needed to prove a loss, but you’ll be thankful they exist should the need arise.
