Fashion Forward at Work
by Kimberly Casciato
Everyday on my way to school I commute
with a morning rush of working women. Time and time again, I see working women play down fashion just to look professional at work. A lot of women wear the matching pin striped dress suits or pants suits to try to appear more professional.
You don’t have to wear these garments to look professional at work. There is always a way to be stylish and fashion forward even when you’re going to work.
This wool pencil skirt with a silk bodice would be perfect for any women’s fall wardrobe. It is simple and stylish and is very appropriate for any working woman.
This wool skirt, with its timeless silhouette and a feminine ruffle top, is finished off with a basic black belt could be just what you need for your fall wardrobe. These examples are here just to give you a starting point. By getting the matchie, matchie look out of you head and not letting the business suit be the only thing in your closet for work you are opening your mind to a whole new way of dressing for your job.
If you feel that you’re a simplistic dresser then shop for the basics. Having a great fitting dress pant, pencil skirt, and basic tops such long-sleeved t-shirts or tops in varying weights with basic colors such as black, white, or cream are great keys in your wardrobe. Then, they can be easily dressed up with accessories. Jewelry is a great way to make any wardrobe pop.
So whether you are a fashion forward dresser or a simplistic dresser, looking appropriate in the office is still possible without buying that matching 2 piece polyester suit!
Remember just look for clothes that fit your body type first. The key to dressing appropriate is fit. Then, look for great prints or details that make a garment extra special. Remember just have fun. Getting dressed for work doesn’t have to be painful and you don’t have to sacrifice your personal style just because it’s a work day. Good Luck Ladies and have a stylish day at work!!!
